Indragiri Hilir Police Chief Holds “Friday Dialogue” with Community and Religious Leaders at Lotus Tembilahan

Tembilahan, starbpknews.id.August 29, 2025 – The Indragiri Hilir Police Resort (Polres Inhil) once again held its “Friday Dialogue” (Jumat Curhat) program as part of its ongoing community engagement initiative aimed at listening directly to the concerns and aspirations of the public. This session took place at Lotus Tembilahan and was attended by the Police Chief of Indragiri Hilir along with senior police officials, community leaders, religious figures, traditional elders, and representatives from local organizations across the regency.

The Friday Dialogue program has become a regular weekly agenda designed to establish two-way communication between law enforcement and the community. In a relaxed yet constructive atmosphere, participants raised various public security and order (kamtibmas) issues, ranging from criminal activity in residential areas, the need for enhanced youth supervision, to calls for increased patrols in crime-prone zones.

In his address, the Indragiri Hilir Police Chief emphasized that this initiative is not merely a discussion forum, but a concrete demonstration of the police’s commitment to be present, to listen, and to respond directly to the voices of the people. He underlined that maintaining public safety and order cannot be achieved by the police alone, but requires strong synergy between law enforcement, local government, community figures, and all layers of society.

“We want to ensure that every concern expressed here will be followed up in accordance with proper procedures and legal authority. The Friday Dialogue is a shared platform—not only for listening, but also for finding the best solutions together,” the Police Chief stated.

Several community leaders also expressed their appreciation for the consistent efforts of Polres Inhil in conducting such activities. They noted that this program has provided an effective channel for the community to share their views without hesitation, while also strengthening the communication bridge that often weakens due to busy schedules and differing priorities.

In addition to gathering public input, the police also delivered several key advisories during the event, including the importance of maintaining neighborhood safety, staying vigilant against street crime, and working collectively to combat the ongoing challenge of drug abuse in Indragiri Hilir.

The event, which ran from morning until noon, was marked by an interactive Q&A session. Attendees actively voiced their opinions and concerns, while the police took note and responded transparently to each point raised.

This edition of Friday Dialogue at Lotus Tembilahan concluded with a summary of the discussion points, which will serve as material for future evaluation and follow-up programs by the local police. The Police Chief expressed his hope that similar initiatives would continue at both regency and sub-district levels, fostering a secure, comfortable, and harmonious environment for all residents of Indragiri Hilir.

Through programs like this, public trust in law enforcement is expected to strengthen, while collaborative efforts between the police and community can bring about real and lasting improvements in public safety across the Region
